The Gospel of John

What better way to start the new school year than making time in your schedule to be fed, strengthened and inspired by God’s holy word. All adults are welcome to join this penetrating study of the Gospel of John. If you missed the first part of this study, held last spring, please feel welcome to still attend this study group if you are interested. Everyone is encouraged to read or reread the first 11 chapters before the first class where we will review much of what we discovered last spring. We will continue using the St. Ignatius study guide which provides the biblical text of the gospel and ample notes at the bottom of each page for better understanding and fresh insights by renowned Bible teachers Scott Hahn and Curtis Mitch, as well as time-tested interpretations from the Fathers of the Church. These helpful study notes provide rich historical, cultural, and theological information providing us with a lot to discuss. During this study, we will practice Lectio divina (literally, “holy reading”), prayerfully reading the Gospel while remaining open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit, in order to arrive at the spiritual messages they contain for each of us.
