Re-Opening Guidelines and Waivers

Cleaning and Disinfecting Schedule:

Cleaning and disinfecting of classrooms and common areas will align with CDC guidelines. Classrooms will have been cleaned prior to use, and will be cleaned after each faith formation session. All cleaning will be performed by adults, over the age of 17.

Liability Waivers:

All adult participants and volunteers of in-person Faith Formation must sign a waiver of liability at the beginning of the year and agree to perform a self-health screening prior to each class. Any person who answers YES to any of the required health screening questions must refrain from in-person faith formation classes and may not return until they have met the CDC criteria to discontinue isolation or quarantine. All parents of in-person Faith Formation students must sign a waiver of liability at the beginning of the year, agreeing to perform a health screening of their child prior to each weekly session. Waiver forms will be available in the Religious Education Parent handbook to be given to all families at the beginning of the year. Please CLICK HERE for student waiver

Sanitation Stations:

Hand sanitizer will be available at all entrances to the building, and at the entrance of every classroom. Students will be encouraged to observe good hand hygiene.

Social Distance/Mask Policy for In-class Instruction:

All students and adults in the building will remain 6 feet apart, to the greatest extent possible.

All students and adults in the building are expected to wear face coverings when a 6-foot social distance is difficult to maintain. Students will be asked to wear face coverings upon entering and exiting the Education Center (or church), and if they leave the classroom for any reason. Once students are seated at their assigned desk, they may remove their face covering.

Teachers will instruct from (at least) a 7-foot distance from the children. When it is necessary to work with children within a closer range, face coverings are required.

Drop-off and Pick-up Procedures:

For in-class instruction for the 2020-21 year, we ask that parents refrain from dropping off and picking up their children in the Education Center classrooms.

Children will be greeted by adult volunteers at the front entrance of the building, beginning 15 minutes prior to the start of class. Students are expected to walk directly to their classroom and adults will monitor the process.

Dismissal locations will be assigned to all families at staggered locations, in the front, and on the two side doors of the Education Center. More specific details will be provided to parents prior to the re-opening of classes.

Other Guidelines:

Food is discouraged during faith formation classes.

School supplies are not to be shared. Each child is asked to keep their supplies in a book bag, along with their textbook and a water bottle. Children are expected to bring these items to class each week.

Students will be assigned the same seat each week.

Catechists will train students in, and reinforce: hand hygiene, respiratory etiquette, social distancing and the parish policy on wearing masks.

Adults are asked to refrain from socializing (closer than 6 feet) indoors.

There will be no large gatherings of students in one common area.
