Join us in helping our homeless brothers and sisters in the DC Metro Area! The Homeless Ministry is open to everyone in the parish. Our ministry will concentrate on collecting comfort items, preparing and serving food, and working directly with the homeless. There are ways to serve for all ages!
Many thanks to so many volunteers, new and old, for their time and healthy foods shared with last Saturday’s Soup Kitchen in Anacostia, We only go the 2nd Saturday of each month, but the Sisters serve the homeless meals every day during the week themselves. They also feed the unwed mother’s in their care. With such generosity of food last week, it goes a long way to help so many, even after our visit. We do need Gardening Angels to help weed and harvest! Last week, Joanne Patton owner of Squire Oaks Farm in Lovettsville, donated 65 lbs of lettuces alone! These are going to the Food Pantry at Catholic Charities in Leesburg, and some will be shared with our Soup Kitchen contributions. There is a huge demand for anything fresh, especially organics. If you have signed up for Gardening Angels, or would like to sign up for Gardening Angels, please email Joanne directly at email@example.com. She will be happy to let you know when weeding and harvesting help is needed, lots in July! Teens needing service hours, summer projects to help feed others, this is so worthwhile.
